Golden autumn slopes and larch woods beneath snow-covered peaks, with three small stone hay huts on the valley floor

Travel slowly through the Alps with Wander North

Go a little further. Move a little slower. Small-group journeys, thoughtfully planned.

  • Guides who live in the valleys
  • Six guests at most
  • Every start reachable by train

Good journeys.
Better company.

A different kind of getting away.

We have walked the Alps with small groups since 2011. A local guide who knows the farmers by name, a route that leaves room for a long lunch, and nights in huts and family houses rather than hotels with lobbies.

Our story
Three walkers in olive jackets sharing lunch at a wooden table outside a stone hut, with peaks behind
Lunch outside the hut on day two of The Long Ridge.
Two walkers on a frosted grassy ridge at dawn above a misty valley
6:12 a.m. on the ridge above Scuol. Why we start early.
A dark timber sauna cabin and jetty on the shore of a still autumn lake
The sauna jetty at Seehaus Bohinj. Stay a little longer.

A place for every pace.

Eight journeys for the 2026 to 2027 season, from lakeside mornings to a roped day on the ice.

    Next departures.

Every date runs from three guests. Hold a place for seven days while you check your calendar.

Travel at the pace of the place.

    Six guests, never more.

Small enough to fit around one hut table, to change plans over coffee, and to walk at the pace of the slowest person without anyone noticing.

    How we travel
Bowls of barley soup, rye bread and oil lamps on a long pine table in a mountain hut at dusk

    Dinners worth walking for.

Half board in huts and family guesthouses, cooked by people whose grandparents ran the same kitchen.

    Guides who live there.

Every guide holds a mountain leader qualification and lives within an hour of the route they lead.

    Walks, not marches.

Days are planned for four to six hours of walking, with stops built in. Nobody is racing to a summit.

Good company goes a long way.

Three of the guides you might walk with next season. Each leads two or three journeys and knows them in every weather.
