Why only eight models

Most sneaker walls are the same four shoes in forty colours. We would rather make two good answers for each activity and keep every size in stock, so the pair you need is on the shelf the day you need it.

Each model gets a year of wear testing by our own team and a panel of forty runners, players and commuters before it ships. If a pair does not earn its place, it does not get made.

Why we resole

The upper of a well-made shoe usually outlasts its sole by years. Our knit and leather models are cemented with a heat-release adhesive so the outsole can come off cleanly and a new one can go on.

A resole costs $45, takes about ten working days and uses the same rubber compound as the original. It is the single thing we are proudest of.

What we measure

  • Weight, drop and stack height for every model, measured on a US 9.
  • Fit notes written from returns data, not from the design brief.
  • Reviews collected 30 days after delivery, once the shoes have been worn.

one standard

The range is organised into three lines, each designed by a small team around one kind of movement. Same materials policy, same resole service, same 60-day wear test.

Heel to the tip of your longest toe, on your longer foot.

  1. Stand on paper

    Heel against a wall, weight on the foot, in the socks you plan to wear.

  2. Mark heel and toe

    Hold the pen upright. Mark the back of the heel and the tip of the longest toe.

  3. Measure the longer foot

    Measure between the marks on both feet and use the larger number.

Orders placed before 2pm on a working day leave Rivergate the same afternoon. Every box includes a prepaid return label.

    4-6 working days with duties included, so there is nothing to pay on arrival.

The 60-day
wear test

Wear them properly: outside, on runs, on the commute. If they are not right within 60 days of delivery, return them free for a refund or a different size.

  1. Start a return

    Send your order number through the contact form. We confirm within one working day.

  2. Pack and label

    Use any box. Stick on the prepaid label from your original parcel.

  3. Refund in 3 days

    Refunds go back to the original payment method within three working days of arrival.

Resole service

When the tread wears through, send the pair back. We remove the old outsole, clean the upper and fit a new sole in the original compound.
