How Fernway Goods cut where‑is‑my‑order tickets by 41%
A 14-person homewares brand shipping 22,000 parcels a month stopped hearing about late deliveries from customers first.

The problem: finding out last
Fernway packs every order in one room above a furniture workshop. When Mara Kinsel joined as head of operations, the team was using four carriers and four tracking portals, and nobody owned the question of where a parcel was.
The answer usually arrived as a support ticket. In February, 2,140 of the 5,300 tickets Fernway received were some version of "where is my order", and a third of those ended in a refund or a reshipment.
What changed
Fernway connected its store and three carriers on a Tuesday afternoon. The backfill pulled 64,000 shipments from the previous 90 days, and the first carrier scorecard showed something the team had suspected but never measured: one regional carrier was late on nearly one parcel in eleven on its Midwest lanes.
Support switched on the helpdesk sidebar, so every ticket shows the parcel's predicted delivery date.
Delay emails went out automatically for parcels more than a day behind, from Fernway's own address.
Lost and damaged parcels became claims with the scan history attached, approved in a weekly batch.
The scorecard did in one afternoon what our carrier review had not done in a year. We moved two lanes and nobody noticed, except finance.
Mara Kinsel, Head of Operations
Fernway ships every order from one packing room.
The results, two quarters in
Where-is-my-order tickets fell 41%, from 2,140 in February to 1,262 in August.
The on-time rate rose from 91.2% to 96.8% after two lanes moved carriers.
$38,400 came back in carrier claims that had previously gone unfiled.
What is next
Fernway is adding returns tracking before the holiday season, so the team can see which returns are stuck before customers chase their refunds.

Security at Parcelo
Shipment data reveals your customers' addresses and your carrier contracts. Here is exactly how we look after it.
SOC 2 Type II, audited every JuneGDPR and CCPAFrankfurt or Oregon
What we collect
Tracking events, order dates, promise dates, destination postcodes and carrier invoices. We do not need, and do not ask for, payment details or product catalogues. Customer names and email addresses are only stored if you switch on delay emails.
Infrastructure and encryption
Workspaces are hosted in your chosen region and never move between regions.
Data is encrypted in transit with TLS 1.3 and at rest with AES-256.
Carrier and store credentials are stored in a separate secrets vault and are read-only.
Backups are encrypted, kept for 35 days, and restored as a test every quarter.
Access control
Roles separate support, finance, operations and admins. SAML single sign-on and SCIM provisioning are available on Scale. Every export, role change and credential update is written to an audit log you can download.
